THING 30

This training has greatly expanded my knowledge of what is really out there and what is out there that will make library work easier and take up less time searching on the vast internet. I had never heard of Rollyo and Flickr. I used a different photo site but might use that one instead of the current one I use. I was surprised that we could actually link to RSS feeds.

If another training was offered, I would take it.

Problems: Being locked out of sites. It became very frustrating at times. You get excited about it and then you can't get in and have to reset up everything on another computer which you could not save. Many people are doing this at home because of the frustration.

Problem with getting into spreadsheet. A lot of time was wasted going back and forth to the spreadsheet and pasting in it. It was slow to come up and if it was locked, you are stuck sitting there with the link copied and you don't want to lose it.

THING 29

I have found this Web 2.0 very interesting. I have seen things I never knew about or explored further things I had a basic understanding about their uses. I found the social networking fasinating. The things that people put out there.

The things I did not enjoy was being blocked. I would try to go to web sites and could either only go so far or not get in at all. Having to do this at home or at a public computer was not what I signed up for.

While browsing thru the other bloggers sites, there were some very interesting sites. Some people were a lot more thorough than others. It shows the wide differences in the knowledge of people. I would still love to know how someone else got to own my Rollyo after I created it.

THING 28

ROLLYO was great. I created a local news search engine. It was Hampton Roads News. Somehow or other it was linked by someone else and now shows that it is owned by Michelle.

THING 27

This was very easy and interesting task. I see where it would be great for reader advisory. Also great for sharing new authors, etc.

THING 26

This was a great exercise once you found one that would work. I would have really liked to have had the bird song but it would not work. I made black and white photos. I did learn that only jpg would work.

THING 25

I visited John Hopkins Library. It was the only one where I could actually get into a podcast. I found the information on JHsearch very interested. It is a search engine that can search more than one database at a time. I found the screen a little distracting and it would help to have a quiet place to listen to it without being asked questions and answering phones.

I found this link that discusses RSS feeds and podcasts.

Thing 24

Every place that was linked was blocked or did not take me to any tutorial. I have heard podcasts and watched videocasts. Since I could not get to anything I could not add an RSS feed to my blog. Everything is bookmarked to my work computer and having to go to a public computer (if I could even get on one) is most convenient.

Great tribute. Better than the YouTube tribute.

THING 23

I find that YouTube has just about anything. You can get clips from TV shows although how legal they are to use is kinda iffy. I found a website on the VT Tribute that was very touching. I loved the music in the background. It is great when you are looking for a song.

THING 22

I found the Montague very interesting. If we could download more of the programs, it would be really fun to use some of the other tools. The color finder was very cool for graphic artists.

THING 21

FLICKR is easy to use and also allows for privacy and for others to be invited to view. You can limit it and it allows tags which makes it much easier to use.

THING 20

I set up a flickr account. It was very easy to upload photos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22800354@N07/?saved=1

It would be a great place to share photos and to share with friends and relatives.

THING 19

I found this very confusing. There is so much stuff out there and I kept getting blocked. I would get so far and then stopped. I tried flock and blogger.

THING 18

Technorati looks very interesting. I found it was a better search engine than Google has been lately. It seems to take you to the post and then a website.
